"THE GAME OF LIFE AND DEATH" XCARET
The time has come to experience the ritual and beliefs of the ancient Maya and to be part of the struggle in the “Game of Life and Death”, the Ball Game. During the celebration of the 7th Festival of Life and Death, dedicated to the Mayan world, you will be able to reach the place where the jaws of the Xibalbá open up and descend into the underworld to accompany the “Twin Heroes” Hunahpú and Ixbalanqué (jaguar warriors) to face the Lords of the Xibalbá.

Temascal

FOUR 1 HR. SESSIONS IN THE TEMASCAL PER DAY

A steam bath that will revitilize your body and your soul. On this very special occassion, so close to the limit between life and death, a unique ceremony will take place. Come into contact with the 4 elements and reflect about life and death . Enjoy the warm shelter of Mother Earth and prepare to be reborn. This is an activity for the whole family with an extra fee and capacity for 25 people per session.

Let your creative juices flow and paint yourself as a catrina elegant skull or a fun skeleton! In different areas of the Park we have set up booths where you will find brushes, mirrors and makeup. Combine colors, make yourself up and prepare to enjoy Xcaret´s Festival of Life and Death Traditions.

JOURNEY TO THE PAST!

Within the framework of the 7th Festival of Life and Death Traditions, five public and private schools from Playa del Carmen will parade in 5th Avenue on October 29th, sharing their joy in joining the life and death festivities thus preserving the millenial traditon of the Day of the Dead.
