FAQ´S
1. What are the dates and times of the Festival?
The Festival will take place on November 1st and 2nd, 2011 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m.
2. How much does it cost?
For special fee tickets
Adult ticket costs $150 pesos
Children’s ticket costs $75 pesos. 5 to 11 year olds are considered children. Children younger than 5 years of age get in free.
For preferential tickets
Adult ticket costs $350 pesos
Children’s ticket costs $175 pesos.
Includes reserved spaces for the main presentations of the day and 10% discount in Park shops from 4:00 p.m. onward.
In preferential tickets, all children 3 years old and older must pay. All attendees 12 years or older pay as adults.
These prices are only for children and adults that are Quintana Roo, Tabasco and Yucatan residents with a valid official ID (IFE, drivers license, passport).
3. Does the discount for Quintana Roo residents also apply in the price of Festival tickets?
The price is already a special fee for residents of Quintana Roo state, so it does not include an additional discount.
4. If I don’t have an official ID as proof of residence in Quintana Roo, Tabasco or Yucatan, Can I still buy tickets?
Residents of the states of Quintana Roo, Tabasco or Yucatan WITHOUT an ID, or national or foreign visitors, will be able to attend by buying:
A Park Admission: $980 pesos ($79 USD)
Xcaret Plus: $1,352 pesos ($109 USD)
Xcaret at night (starting at 4 p.m.): $732 pesos ($59 USD). This is the price suggested for any visitor that is not from the states mentioned above.
Children 5-11 with an ID pay 1/2 the adult ticket price.
Children under 5 get free admission.
5. In preferential tickets or special fee tickets, up to what age does the child fee apply?
In the case of preferential tickets, children under 3 get in FREE. However, special events are recommended for children older than 3 years of age.
For special fee tickets, children 5-11 pay 1/2 the adult ticket price.
In both cases, children over 12 pay the adult ticket price. It is mandatory to present an official ID as proof of age.
6. If I paid a Park Admission, can I stay for the Festival without an additional cost?
Yes, but if you wish to have a reserved seat for the special events, you would need to buy a preferential ticket at a cost of $350 pesos.
7. Where can I buy tickets?
There will be complimentary tickets for Quintana Roo, Tabasco or Yucatan residents at the main local radio stations and newspapers. Each medium will decide the way the tickets will be given away to their audience.
If you wish, there will be preferential or special fee tickets for sale in the Park’s ticket offices, at Excursion.travel Agency in Cancun or at “La Pasteletería” until they are sold out. The preferential tickets will be also on sale through www.festivaldevidaymuerte.com.
8. Will there be any special transportation to take me to the Festival?
Yes, from Playa del Carmen there will be TUCSA buses (schedule and routes yet to be confirmed), as well as taxi and ADO bus services from 2:00 p.m. until midnight during the 4 days of the Festival. Buses will leave the ADO terminal on 5ta. Ave. every 30 minutes and the bus ticket has a cost of $ 40 pesos per person.
There will also be bus routes leaving from Cancun to Xcaret (schedules and routes yet to be confirmed). Tickets will have a cost of $ 82 pesos per person.

10. What activities will the Festival have? Is it for the whole family?
The Festival is indeed for the whole family. There will be regional theater (for adults), family and community theater, altar exhibits, contemporary, pre-Hispanic and folkloric dance, concerts, story tellers, a children’s and young people’s pavilion with workshops and interactive activities (subject to space), chocolate exhibit, visits to the Cemetery “Bridge to Paradise”, visual arts, painting, photography, among many more.
11. On October 29th at 7:00 PM there will be a parade in 5th Avenue, Playa del Carmen that I understand will be an event for the whole family, children and young people. For what ages do you recommend it? What must they bring and how should they dress? Will there be any special presentation or any special activity?
This year we have the “A volar Angelitos” (Fly little angels) parade, a funeral procession for the departed children, all dressed in white, Tabasco style, that will be accompanied by a group of drums, reed flutes and lots of rhythm marching on 5ta. Ave. and 34 Norte. Participation is free. The date is October 29th at 6:00 PM on 5ta. Ave. and 34 Norte.
We suggest for everyone to come with half of your face painted as a sugar skull and/or bring Mexican style skeleton masks made out of paper machée, or other items in keeping with the Day of the Dead theme and made by hand. Dress style should be all white Yucatan or mestizo style. The event is recommended for children and teenagers between 6 and 15 years of age.
This year, the parade will end at the Plaza 28 de Julio with artist participations and exhibits by the Playa del Carmen Municipality.
12. Will there be a photography contest this year with the Day of the Dead in the Mayan Zone theme?
Yes, this year we will hold the 5th photography contest with the Day of the Dead theme and will have prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.
