What are the dates and hours of the Festival of Life and Death Traditions?

The 12th edition of the Festival of Life and Death Traditions will take place from October 30th to November 2nd, 2017 at Xcaret Park starting at 4:00 p.m. and finishing at 10:30 p.m., and from November 3rd to 5th at the secondary venues, Planetario Sayab and the City Theater in Playa del Carmen.


How much is the admission fee to the Festival of Life and Death Traditions at Xcaret?

For Quintana Roo, Yucatán and Campeche residents:

General Admission Presale*
Adult: $19.40 USD $15.20 USD
Child: $9.70 USD $7.70 USD

General Admission includes entrance starting at 4:00 p.m., the more than 40 activities of the Festival, general seating in the big forum shows and at Gran Tlachco.

Preferential Admission Presale*
Adult: $30.50 USD $25 USD
Child: $15 USD $12.50 USD

Preferential admission includes entrance starting at 1:00 p.m, the more than 40 activities of the Festival, reserved seats at the main venues including Gran Tlachco. There aren’t reserved seats at small venues, like: Guadalupe Chapel, Esplanade, Main Plaza, Jungle Trail and Mayan Village. Also includes 10% discount at La Plaza gift shop, Kiosk stores and Optional Activities.

Children under 5 years old get free admission. Must show ID at the ticket office of the Park (CURP or school credential). From 5 to 11 years old get half off the adult ticket price; 12 years and older pay full price. An official ID must be presented at the Park’s ticket booths. Price valid only for children and adults who live in Quintana Roo, Campeche and Yucatán with an official ID (IFE or INE, Driver’s License or FM3).


Is there an additional discount for residents of Quintana Roo?

No, the price is a special rate for residents, therefore an additional discount cannot be applied.


If I don’t have an official ID as proof that I live in Quintana Roo, Campeche or Yucatán, can I buy the tickets?

Yes, but without a discount. Quintana Roo, Campeche and Yucatán residents WITHOUT ID or any national or international visitor can access the event by purchasing any of the following options:

  • Park Admission: $99 USD*.
    Admittance starting at 8:30 a.m. until closing of the Park and/or when the Festival ends.
  • Xcaret Plus Admission: $129 USD*.
    Admittance starting at 8:30 a.m. until closing of the Park and/or when the Festival ends.
  • Park Admission + Xclusive: $143.38 USD*.
    Admittance starting at 8:30 a.m. until closing of the Park and/or when the Festival ends.
  • Xcaret Plus + Xclusive: $173.38 USD*.
    Admittance starting at 8:30 p.m. until closing of the Park and/or when the Festival ends.

Suggested options for any visitor who is not from the aforementioned states.

Children under 5 years old have free admission with an official ID. Children 5 to 11 years old with ID get half off the adult ticket price; 12 years and older pay full price. Seniors with INSEN/INAPAM IDs get half off the adult ticket price on Park Admission, Xcaret Plus or Xcaret at Night. Restrictions apply.

If I purchase an admission to Xcaret Park, can I stay for the Festival of Life and Death Traditions with no extra cost?

Yes, your admission gives you access to the festival’s activities, but if you want to have a reserved seat at the main venues, you should acquire the Preferential Admission tickets for $30.50 USD adults and $15 USD children 5 to 11 years. Includes a 10% discount on the shops at La Plaza, kiosks and Optional Activities.


If I purchase my Admission Xcaret at Night, does it includes the show Xcaret México Espectacular?

Yes, also you have access to all the events of the festival, but if you want to have a reserved seat in the main venues you can purchase Preferential Admission for $30.5 USD adults and $15 USD for children. Includes a 10% discount on the shops at La Plaza, kiosks and Optional Activities.


Where can I get tickets for the Festival of Life and Death Traditions?

Purchase your Admission at Xcaret Park ticket booths, on the official website www.festivaldevidaymuerte.com and in Sales Points located in:
Cancun: Plazas Outlet and Plaza Las Américas Malls, La Pasteletería, Base Caracol Xcaret (at Hotel Zone) and Commercial Offices.
Playa del Carmen: Paseo del Carmen Mall, Ah Cacao Coffee Shop and La Pasteletería.
ADO bus stations: at Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Chetumal and Merida.

Courtesy tickets available through radio broadcasters and newspapers of Quintana Roo. The procedure for winning those tickets is not the responsibility of Xcaret. Courtesy tickets are also available through contests on Experiencias Xcaret’s social networks.


Will there be any special transportation to the Festival of Life and Death Traditions?

Yes, ADO buses will provide transportation in the following schedules:

What activities will the Festival of Life and Death Traditions include? Are they for all kinds of audiences?

The Festival is for the whole family and in this edition the guest of honor will be the Mexican state of Yucatán. There will be folkloric ballet from Yucatán and Quintana Roo, cabaret theater, regional Yucatán theater, monologues and a wide array of theater shows; pre-Hispanic expressions, dramatized tours, a self guided tour through the cemetery, concerts, puppet show, multidisciplinary shows, community theater, visual arts, painting and photography, traditional rituals, delicious food tasting and handmade crafts on exhibitions from the Yucatán Peninsula, among many other things

Also, kids and teen workshops called Long Live the Little Souls! with diverse themes, like storytellers, interactive activities, handcrafting, cooking and activities for the whole family. Check schedules


What other Exclusive Activities are there going to be at the 2017 Festival of Life and Death Traditions?

There will be a Gala Concert on November 1st and 2nd form Mexican singer and songwriter Aleks Syntek, with Xclusive Admission consisting of a bottle of your choice per person, a cheese board and cold cuts. This area is going to be specially reserved for this event. There is limited seating, so reserve right away.


What activities are there going to be at the Secondary Venues?

From November 3rd to 5th, the Festival of Life and Death Traditions 2017 moves to the City Theater and to the Planetario Sayab both at Playa del Carmen, where artistic theatrical representations will be presented in unique functions on different schedules. Check schedules.
